Union Bank Partners Pearls Africa Youth Foundation Girls Coding Summer Camp 2020

The world is changing and for the better! For example, organizations such as the male-dominated technology industry - Pearl Africa Youth Foundation, are also working on sports by introducing young people and girls to the world of technology. Girls trained in science and technology have the right to escape poverty, enter high-paying jobs, and become agents of change in their communities.

The Pearl Africa Youth Foundation has a coding home for girls equipped with young girls (ages 10–17) with computer skills such as robotics, HTML, and Java programming. Girls are encouraged to use these skills to achieve sustainable social solutions in their communities.

Union Bank is proud to partner with Girls Coding for the fourth consecutive year. Dedicated to enabling success in our organized communities as a financial institution, this partnership encourages social development through our commitment to gender equality and effective programs.

This year, approximately 70% of the training was done with learning materials to send participants due to the epidemic. The A-Train train program was also launched, where Aguvano Azai and Aladad Nasirat were brought in to train and mentor the visiting comrades last year.

Union Bank will continue to reduce the gender gap in our society. We have recently partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria to implement the Leadership Camp initiative. Through this program we are able to inspire and empower 130 young girls to become high-achieving youth leaders in our community. We have partnered with the Mummy Empowerment Foundation to empower women in low-income communities.
