ABUAD Online Community Development Seminars

In line with its visions to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), through lifelong learning and continuous personal development among the wider community, The Research and Innovation Directorate of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) is welcoming registration for its online community development seminars.


Community development seminars are open to anyone who is 18 years or older and has a love for learning and personal development. 


These seminar sessions are offered in five sessions in total (two hours a class), over a two-week period, and are offered in English. Participants who successfully partake in a minimum of four out of five classes receive a certificate of completion. 


These seminar courses are not credit-bearing and are ineligible for transfer towards any formal degree or program at ABUAD.


With guided presentations and instructions by world-class experts and scholars drawn from across the world, participants will be exposed to the latest developments and knowledge in a wide range of sustainable development themes.

September 7-21, 2020: Business Development and Negotiation Skills. This course will help participants to uncover the negotiation skills required to grow their businesses, unlock professional career success, and to defuse conflict situations. 


Attendees will learn how to develop business plans, business strategies, business advocacy skills, and also negotiation skills based on their unique personality traits, in order to play a more active role in their working environment. Essentially, the programme features five modules, which are:

September 21-30, 2020: Project Management and Financing: In a pandemic constrained world, entrepreneurs in different sectors will need to be innovative in securing and managing available financing needed to drive their ideas and businesses. 


This course will provide an overview of project management and the essential tools needed to deliver successful projects in a timely manner and within budget. 


Participants will learn the fundamental principles of the subject, including project initiation, project definition, creation of work breakdown structures, scheduling using Gantt charts and network diagrams, risk management, budgeting and controlling resources, quality assurance, auditing and project termination.
