Union Rise Challenge Update

The discussion has intensified as we enter the fourth (and final) week of the Union Rise Challenge!

Inspirational stories continue to flow through many social media channels, with many Nigerians showcasing their creativity, innovation, and impact, even in times of challenge due to the global Kovid-19 epidemic.

There have been 30 winning entries since winning the first June date, with the top ten entries announced every Saturday.

One of the winning entries in the announcement last weekend was Babatunde Onakoya, the convener of the chess slum, an initiative that reflects the game of chess to promote children’s intellectual development. Working with volunteers and donors, the group was able to raise funds during the epidemic to buy iPads so that children could learn remotely. The group also catered to the Midland / Ogolonto area of Lagos State.

Another entry that won the hearts of many came from Madaki Adang, who has worked to provide Covid-19 health counseling to more than 16,000 people through her Facebook page. Madaki collaborated with other medical practitioners to provide free virtual advice through the De My Virtual Dock app, which repairs a crowded hospital waiting room.

These show surprising irresistible emotions, which Nigerians continue to display despite extreme hardships. Thanks to Union Bank, the winner is getting N250,000 for each entry to support their work! Doubt your doubts, it could be you!
