Covenant’s Scholarly Output in Computer Science matches that of 50 other Nigerian Institutions Combined

There are no limitations to what God can do in the life of an individual or an institution, which is exemplified by the seemingly unattainable feats Covenant University continues to accomplish in the rather short time of her existence.

According to the latest computation by Elsevier, a global information analytics business that helps institutions and professionals progress science, advance healthcare, and improve performance, the aggregate of scholarly output recorded by Covenant in Computer Science between 2014 and 2020 matched that of the totality of 50 other institutions. These institutions cut across the Federal, State, and Private-owned in Nigeria within the same period.

The report sourced from Scopus and released on Monday, April 27, 2020, stated that Covenant had a whopping 1,047 output within the period in review. Her production matched aggregate of the efforts of scores of other institutions including 1st and 2nd generation universities like the University of Nigeria Nsukka, credited with 234 scholarly output; University of Lagos (222); University of Ibadan (206); Ahmadu Bello University (177); Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (166); University of Benin (64); and University of Port Harcourt (62) amongst others.

Surprisingly, aside Covenant, the other private institution in the top 10 of the universities with most outputs in Computer Science was Landmark University, which is a sister university to Covenant.

The latest development, which coincided with the conquest of new grounds in the recently released 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, was further testimony to the Covenant University’s soaring profile in the field of research.

To God alone be all the glory.
